Het Lucis Trust-logo

Lucis Trust is een organisatie zonder winstoogmerk, opgericht door Alice en Foster Bailey in 1922, en is verantwoordelijk voor, onder andere, de publicatie van de boeken van Alice Bailey (voornamelijk onder telepathisch dictaat van Meester Djwhal Khul).1, 2, 3, 4 In deze contemplatie zullen we focussen op het logo van de organisatie, dat hieronder getoond wordt.

Het Lucis Trust-logo

Wanneer we dit logo taalkundig beschouwen dan lezen we eerst het woord "LUCIS" onderaan het logo. 'Lucis' is het Latijnse genitief van 'lux', 'licht' betekenend.5, 6 Net als zijn Latijnse synoniem 'lumen' en zijn Engelse en Nederlandse tegenhangers 'light' en 'licht' wordt 'lux', en dus ook 'lucis', geacht geworteld te zijn in het Proto-Indo-Europese 'leuk' of 'louk', 'helder' of 'schijnen' betekenend.7, 8, 9

Een andere spruit in het Latijn van de voorgenoemde Proto-Indo-Europese wortel(s) betreft 'lucifer'.10, 11 Het woord betekent letterlijk 'licht-brengend', maar het is ook de naam van Venus als de morgenster en van Satan.12, 13

In de tijdloze wijsheid wordt beschouwd dat het licht van het denken, individualisatie, gevestigd werd in de aardse mens via de incarnatie van hoge wezens van Venus in aardse lichamen.14, 15 Lucifer als Venus wordt aldus beschouwd de licht-brenger voor de mensheid te zijn.16 Dat is waarschijnlijk waarom Lucis Publishing Company initieel 'Lucifer Publishing Company' heette, echter onbegrip van het (Christelijk) publiek over de achtergrond van de naam zorgde voor de beslissing tot een naamsverandering.17, 18

Tot zover werd alleen de naam "LUCIS" in het Lucis Trust-logo beschouwd, maar dit logo wordt ook gebruikt zonder die naam onderaan aangehecht. Maar dan kan de taalkundige beschouwing nog steeds voortgezet worden, want in het centrum kunnen drie letters onderscheiden worden, namelijk "L", "u" en "x", samen het eerder genoemde Latijnse woord voor 'licht', 'lux', spellend.

Wetenschappelijk nu is de term 'lux' in gebruik om "de hoeveelheid verlichting waarin wordt voorzien wanneer één lumen gelijkelijk wordt verdeeld over een gebied van één vierkante meter" aan te geven.19 'Lumen', dat boven ook werd genoemd als behorend tot dezelfde familie van woorden als 'lux', 'lucifer' en 'lucis', verwijst daarbij naar de "hoeveelheid licht".20

Dit wetenschappelijke concept kan gezien worden als een weerspiegeling van het esoterische concept van ziel en lichaam. De tijdloze wijsheid beschouwt dat de aard van de ziel licht is,21 dus de lumen van de wetenschap is hier vergelijkbaar met de ziel van de tijdloze wijsheid. En zoals lumen op een oppervlak valt, uitgedrukt als 'lux', verlicht de ziel het lichaam wanneer in incarnatie.22 Dus de lux van de wetenschap is vergelijkbaar met de geïncarneerde ziel. En dit laatste is wat 'Lux' in het logo dan symboliseert.

Hiermee is onze taalkundige beschouwing van het Lucis Trust-logo echter nog niet klaar, want in de driehoek kunnen we de Griekse letter 'Δ' of 'delta' lezen. Het logo leest dus als 'ΔLux'. En deze 'Δ' wordt in de wetenschap gebruikt om een "eindig verschil" aan te duiden.23 Als bijvoorbeeld lux1 1 is en lux2 3 dan is Δlux1, 2 2. De Δlux van de wetenschap is dan vergelijkbaar met het immer toenemende licht van de ziel dat het lichaam ontvangt.24 De 'ΔLux' van het logo symboliseert dus in deze zin de "Wet van Evolutie",25 waarbij 'Δ' de dynamiek van de geest symboliseert26.

'ΔLux' nu is een combinatie van Griekse en Romeinse letters, maar het Lucis Trust-logo kan ook volledig Grieks gelezen worden. De 'Lu' wordt dan gelezen als 'Ψ' of 'psi' en de 'x' als 'X' of 'chi', resulterend in 'ΔΨX'. 'Ψ' en 'X' werden alreeds beschouwd in eerdere contemplaties.27, 28 Daar werd gevonden dat 'Ψ' in één betekenis de ziel (of het Christus-principe) symboliseert en 'X' het lichaam (of het kruis van materie). Van 'Ψ' en 'X' werd daarbij, in lijn met het beroemde Christelijke XP- (of chi-rho-)monogram, de geest in lichamelijke incarnatie symboliserend, een ΨX-monogram gevormd, de ziel in lichamelijke incarnatie (of het Christus-principe genageld aan het kruis van materie) symboliserend. 'ΨX' werd daar gelezen als 'psi-chi', dat werd beschouwd als de wortel van het Engelse en Nederlandse 'psyche'. Psi is de ziel en de psyche is de ziel in incarnatie.29 Het Lucis Trust-logo nu bevat in zijn centrum zulk een ΨX-monogram.

Met het beschouwen van het ΨX-monogram hebben we de meer wetenschappelijke elementen van lumen en lux achtergelaten, en dus is ook een andere toekenning voor 'Δ' op zijn plaats. En in lijn met het beschouwen van 'X' als het lichaam symboliserend en 'Ψ' de ziel kan 'Δ' beschouwd worden de drievoudige monade te symboliseren.30, 31 Dus het Lucis Trust-logo beschouwd als 'ΔΨX' symboliseert in principe het drievoud van monade, ziel en lichaam (of persoonlijkheid).

We krijgen aldus een overzicht zoals hieronder getoond, waarbij de elementen op de horizontale lijn uitgewisseld kunnen worden.

Over dit overzicht moet het volgende opgemerkt worden. 'Realisatie' indiceert de consummatie van de 'Wet van Evolutie', resulterend in de 'perfectie' van de drievoudige mens, bestaande uit 'monade', 'ziel' en 'persoonlijkheid'.32, 33, 34 Deze 'realisatie' wordt voorafgegaan door 'illuminatie' in de 'incarnatie' van de 'ziel' in de 'persoonlijkheid' (of het drievoudige 'lichaam'), wordt voorafgegaan door het werpen van 'licht' in 'materie', wordt voorafgegaan door waar 'psychisme' (of 'ΨX-isme').35, 36, 37
